The family ranch has fallen on hard times. The main house is falling apart. The outbuildings are in pieces. The livestock pens are empty. There is a valley full of forest, wildlife and opportunity outside the gate, and a hardware store in town willing to extend credit. The rest is up to you.

Ranch Simulator is an open-world sandbox combining building renovation, livestock management, farming and hunting into a single first-person experience across a forested mountain valley. The player inherits a rundown homestead and must restore it piece by piece: buying tools, repairing the main house, constructing barns and pens, selecting livestock and managing their feeding, breeding and produce. Cattle, pigs, chickens, sheep and horses each have their own production chains — beef, pork, eggs, wool, cheese, sausages — feeding the ranch's income alongside contract hunting in the wilderness. Bears, deer, wild boar and other species inhabit the open world. Up to four players share a ranch in co-op. The Southwest Ranch and Farm Expansion Pack (February 2025) adds an entirely separate new map with new vehicles, new predators and a fresh ranch to build. PCGamesN described it as "House Flipper meets Red Dead Redemption 2."
