theHunter: Call of the Wild

The animal is somewhere in the reserve. You know roughly where because of the tracks, the droppings and the calls heard an hour ago at dawn. The wind is working against you. You have been waiting for forty minutes. This is theHunter: Call of the Wild, and this is entirely the point.

theHunter: Call of the Wild is an open-world hunting simulation developed by Expansive Worlds, the studio behind the original browser-based theHunter Classic. The game places the player in a series of large reserves modelled on real biomes — the German forests of Hirschfelden, the Rocky Mountain wilderness of Layton Lake, the African savanna of Vurhonga, the New Zealand highland of Te Awaroa and more — each populated with animal species authentic to that environment and simulated with individual movement patterns, hearing ranges, scent detection and behaviours. Rifles, bows, shotguns, handguns and muzzleloaders each behave according to real-world ballistics with specific ammo requirements for different quarry. Animal calls, scents, blinds and ground stands are tools of the trade. Trophy scoring rates each harvest. Four players can share a reserve in Apex Connect online sessions. More than twenty reserve DLC packs have been released since launch, along with weapon packs and cosmetic content. The game has been continuously updated since 2017.
