The road does not go where you need to go. What exists is a topographic map, a selection of extremely heavy trucks, deep mud, unstable ice, river crossings, steep inclines and cargo that needs to reach somewhere on the other side of all of it. This is SnowRunner. It is calm until it is not.

SnowRunner is an off-road driving simulation built on Saber Interactive's proprietary terrain deformation and physics engine, which models the interaction between a vehicle's weight, speed and momentum against dynamic mud, snow, ice and water in real time. Trucks sink, bog down, tip and sometimes become irretrievably stuck in ways that demand either winching, scouting an alternative route, or calling in a co-op partner for help. Thirteen map regions across North America and Russia provide progressively more demanding environments. Over forty licensed vehicles from Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Freightliner, Caterpillar, Hummer and others are available, each with upgrade paths for tyres, suspension and winch equipment. Four-player online co-op allows convoy operations. Five years of seasonal DLC passes have substantially expanded the vehicle roster, map selection and mission variety. The series continued with Expeditions: A MudRunner Game in 2024.
