Eight class stories. Fully voiced. Your choices shape the galaxy. The Force is yours to command, light or dark.

Three thousand years before the events of the films, the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic stand in uneasy ceasefire following decades of devastating war. The peace is tenuous, the dark side is resurgent, and across eight distinct class stories, every player's path through this galaxy is their own — hero or villain, Jedi or Sith, smuggler or bounty hunter.

Star Wars: The Old Republic was the most expensive video game ever developed at the time of its launch, with production costs exceeding $200 million, built on the premise of bringing BioWare's signature story and companion-driven RPG design to the MMO format. Every class has a fully voiced three-act personal storyline — the game launched as the largest fully voiced game ever made — with moral choices, companion relationships and branching outcomes woven into an MMO framework of flashpoints, operations, warzones and an open world. Eight playable classes — Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular, Smuggler, Trooper, Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor, Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent — each have their own narrative arc, effectively making the base game eight separate RPG campaigns accessible within a single subscription. The game transitioned to free-to-play in 2012 and has released eight expansions. In June 2023, BioWare handed development to Broadsword Online Games. A ninth expansion was announced for 2026 to mark the game's fifteenth anniversary.

Key Features: • 8 fully voiced class storylines with moral choices, companions and branching outcomes • Largest fully voiced game ever made at launch - spiritual successor to Knights of the Old Republic • Flashpoints (instanced dungeons) • F2P base game, optional subscription (Preferred/Subscriber) unlocks extra content
