Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Retro Studios — the studio behind the Metroid Prime trilogy — and one of the most critically respected platformers of its era. Originally released for the Wii U in February 2014 and ported to Nintendo Switch in May 2018 with additional content, the game follows Donkey Kong and his friends as they battle the Snowmads, a group of Viking-themed arctic invaders who have frozen Donkey Kong Island on his birthday.
