A Watcher who can see the souls of the dead. A dying land haunted by hollow children.

The caravan you were travelling with is dead, and something happened to you in the ruins during the storm — something that left you with the ability to see the souls of the dead and hear the thoughts they carry. In the land of Eora, this is not a gift. It is called being a Watcher, and it is the kind of thing that drives people mad.

Pillars of Eternity is an isometric real-time-with-pause role-playing game built in the tradition of the Infinity Engine classics — Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment — with an entirely original setting, pantheon and mechanical system. The world of Eora has a theological crisis at its centre: souls are being reborn without their memories, children are being born "Hollowborn" — soulless and silent — and the gods who supposedly govern the cycle of reincarnation are not answering. The player, as the Watcher, has the ability to read souls, walk memories and potentially understand what is going wrong at the root of the world. Six character classes with extensive ability customisation, a party of up to six drawn from a roster of distinctive companions, an original soul-based magic system called Engwithan, and a stronghold at Caed Nua that grows through the campaign. The White March DLC adds a full expansion region of significant length. The Definitive Edition bundles everything.

Key Features: • Watcher protagonist: read souls, walk memories and uncover the truth behind the Hollowborn crisis • Isometric real-time-with-pause CRPG: 6 classes, party of up to 6 • Stronghold at Caed Nua: recruit staff, upgrade facilities and defend against invasions • Extensive lore: item descriptions, soul visions and environmental storytelling at every level
