A band of dwarves sets out to carve a new home from the rock of a procedurally generated mountain. They need food, water, beer — always beer — and shelter from the things that want to kill them. You will guide them, manage their labour, design their halls, and watch the world they build take on a life of its own. Eventually, in one way or another, the fortress will fall. Losing is fun.

Dwarf Fortress is the deepest simulation ever built into a video game. Every dwarf has a full personality, a history, relationships, fears and preferences that emerge from a world generated before you even began to play. The mountain you carve into has geology. The rivers have sources. The civilisations that exist around you have histories going back centuries, recorded in generated books that your dwarves can read in a library you build for them. The Steam Premium edition brings the game to life with new pixel-art tile graphics and a two-volume Dwarvish-language soundtrack — the first time in its 20-year history that Dwarf Fortress has had visuals beyond ASCII characters. Still in active development by two brothers, Tarn and Zach Adams, as their life's work.

Key Features: • Deepest world simulation in gaming — every dwarf, creature and civilisation fully simulated • Procedurally generated world history, geology, cultures and legends before you start • Fortress Mode, Adventurer Mode and Legends Mode • Premium pixel-art tile graphics + two-volume Dwarvish-language soundtrack • Free ASCII version
